Warrior 1

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Bonny and I’m an actress turned yogi originally from California now residing in East London (innit)! I had a pretty good year last year (I got married, was able to travel, had some great times with close friends), so when it came to resolution time and the New Year I looked closely at my life and realized that the thing that wasn’t giving me the satisfaction that I wanted was: my career.  I love all the acting work I get, but the truth is I was spending more time working in a pub than up on any stage, and when I looked at what was making me happy in my day to day, it turned out my yoga ‘hobby’ was the thing I looked forward to the most.

So, I did what anyone would do … I went to INDIA! I finally plucked up the courage and got rid of those you-can’t-do-it voices and signed up for a yoga teacher training program in beautiful Mandrem Beach, Goa. I’m so happy I did, it changed me inside and out. 2015-03-04 14.16.35

Back in London, now the challenge is on! Trying to lead a yogic lifestyle with; all of the modern day distractions, a husband who can’t stay out of the pub for more than 2 days in a row, friends whose time schedules start at 12 or 1pm and end at 4am, and the oh so easy excuse of ‘well I did some yoga yesterday’…

I’m not saying I’m going to join an Ashram or start wearing orange robes, but what I am hoping to achieve is to bring the yogic way of life I learned in India into my London life. To live with mindfulness – not getting frustrated by the person who stops dead in front of you on the foot path to check their phone, or livid that that person on the tube had the audacity to take up 2 seats when others are standing. It will be little things, meditating and not being embarrassed if my flat mate walks in on me, eating healthier, doing a regular asana practice, and only drinking one or two nights a week. So here it goes! Yogi in the City! (I picture Sarah Jessica Parker in lululemon pants meditating as she gets splashed by a bus).

I plan to document my journey and give some tips/ inspiration along the way. Continue to check in and let me know how you might bring some mindfulness into your every day life!

Namaste

Bonny
